This workshop will discuss issues within librarianship relating to Indigenous peoples and Indigenous materials within library collections. Presented through the lens of critical librarianship, this workshop will focus on the criteria for selection of Indigenous materials to ensure that collections work involving these materials are culturally responsive. Throughout the workshop there will be discussions regarding Indigenous issues such as sovereignty and cultural appropriation. Participants will leave with a brief introduction to Indigenous issues as they relate to librarianship and skills to evaluate Indigenous materials.
 
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

• Identify culturally responsible materials for Library Collections,
• Discern examples of cultural appropriation and inappropriate depictions of Indigenous nations and peoples,
• Evaluate problematic areas of librarianship as it relates to Indigenous representation and settler-colonialism
