Introduction to Data Visualization for Startups In-Person

Location: AC286A, Instruction Lab, UTSC Library, 1265 Military Trail

The ability to ask and answer real-world questions from large and small data sets, and to communicate that information to others visually, is becoming a requirement for innovation and entrepreneurship. This interactive session will introduce you to the data literacy skills you will need to select, clean, interpret, and communicate stories from data using data visualizations. Presenting data visually will help you create an engaging, informative, and compelling business plan and pitch.

Participants will learn to:

• find, and select types of marketing, consumer, demographic and economic data

• process data in order to prepare it for use, via hands-on experience

• visualize the data in order to communicate information to the viewer, using charts, graphs, and maps
