Library Programs have become an integral part of the public library, among other things. They inform, build community and bring customers through our doors. In turn, Public Service Librarians have come to wear many hats. None are as flexible, rewarding and fun as the Programming Librarian. However fun as they may be, selecting, building and delivering programs for your customers can become isn’t always a walk in the park.

This workshop will provide an introduction to library programming a whole. Methods of analysis for selecting programs will be discussed such as mapping your ideas to your library’s strategic plan and evaluating the needs of your community. We will also focus on creating and delivering programs, trends in library programming, and where to find great ideas and resources.

During this workshop, you can expect to learn and experience the following:

• Current trends and hot topics
• Methods and theories for selecting and producing programs.
• An in-depth look at youth programming
• Hands on activities and group work
