Building Inclusive Communities: Opportunities for Creativity and Progress within the Current Legal Framework Online

Accessible training and education has come a long way since the implementation of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and its subsequent guiding standards. Nationally, the legal landscape has become increasingly complex in the intervening years, with multiple pieces of provincial and federal legislation greatly expanding the scope of requirements. Taken together, this evolution of the legal impetus for accessibility has positioned Ontario as the leader in the field by virtue of its pioneering status.

Designed for both students and staff, this workshop is intended to offer a reflection of the current legal framework at the provincial, national, and international levels as well as to introduce a new framework of looking at accessibility and inclusion through the lens of Universal Design for Learning (UDL).
