In a series of three workshops, learn to navigate the complex world of government information.
Government budgets and historical government documents
Government financial documents are not just fiscal policies which articulate a government’s priorities. They also track how public money is spent and keep those in power accountable. Getting the terminology right is a crucial first step to reading and interpreting this material. This session will introduce a few budgetary documents and strategies for reading and interpreting them. In addition, this workshop will cover historical government documents, which can span over decades if not centuries and offer primary and often detailed evidence on almost every topic in history. Come and explore different perspectives of world events from documents issued by different national governments.
Open to University of Toronto students, faculty and staff.
