Joining the Scholarly Conversation: Finding the Gap and Situating your Work Online
Becoming familiar with the scholarly landscape of your discipline can be intimidating – how do you know who’s talking with whom? How do you know that you’ve found everything that you’ll need to consider? Beyond that, how do you locate a gap in the literature that allows you to make your own unique contribution? The OISE Librarians are here to help.
In this workshop, we’ll use a variety of literature searching techniques to add to your toolkit, including identifying the right search platforms, building a search string using keywords, using advanced search operators, and more. We’ll also discuss how to document and describe your search techniques in a transparent way for inclusion in your methods sections.
