UTSC Library Storytelling Fellowship Performance Screening: "An Old Story for New Times" In-Person

In 2021/22, three  U of T Scarborough students were awarded a library storytelling Fellowship to explore the art and craft of storytelling, focusing on the Legend of Ponnivala Nadu.

Now, the library is pleased to present a screening of "An Old Story for a New Age," a play authored by Faculty mentor Brenda Beck and edited and performed by Fellows Raina Daniel, Christy Lorentz and Shajaky Parameswaran alongside emerging Professional Sayantha Baskaran.  The performance was recorded in UTSC’s Leigha Lee Browne Theatre with technical support provided by Theatre, Library,  and IITS staff, notably Technical director and producer, Mark McKee. The performance features original music by Rethus Ramanee. The story follows the parallel storylines of Tamarai’s journey in the Legend of Ponnivala and Arundathi, a contemporary University of Toronto Med student and contains mentions of infertility, illness,  and interpersonal conflict.

Join us for brief remarks, the video launch (45 minutes in length) and refreshments.
