Qualitative Data Analysis In-Person
This workshop is part of the Digital Scholarship Unit's Fun Data Fridays Series.
These events are designed with an hour-long introduction presentation on the topic led by U of T Scarborough Librarian, followed by a peer-to-peer discussion and collaborative learning session. This program is designed to be a forum for how data is used pervasively across all disciplines and troubleshoot your data questions. Our goal is to work together to appreciate the unique issues and opportunities brought forth when discussing data cross-disciplinarily.
About Qualitative Data Analysis
While collecting data has never been easier, the bigger challenge is bringing it all together in a meaningful way. With data spread across so many different formats, finding connections can be extremely difficult and time consuming. NVivo software is designed to help researchers organize, code, and analyze qualitative and mixed methods research data.
This workshop will provide an introductory activity to understand how the NVivo application can be used to assist in your qualitative research.
Overall Lesson Objectives
- Explain the use of computer-aided qualitative data analysis software
- Provide context of qualitative data coding
- Provide conversation around the many uses of qualitative analysis and its value
Learning Outcomes
- Understand how to import, analyze, and manage data
- Compose coding methods and organize data using themes
- Arrange queries on data and utilize visualizations to show data connections
