Live Taping: Chapter 5 of James Joyce's Finnegans Wake

Live Taping: Chapter 5 of James Joyce's Finnegans Wake In-Person

Please join the Fisher Library and One Little Goat Theatre Company for a rare live reading of Chapter 5 from James Joyce’s extraordinary, final novel, Finnegans Wake, featuring Irish Canadian actor Richard Harte, and directed by Adam Seelig.

Displayed during the reading will be books, maps and art from the Fisher’s collections that relate to Joyce’s novel, including Marshall McLuhan’s heavily annotated first-edition copy of Finnegans Wake, and Sir Edward Sullivan’s landmark study, The Book of Kells. (The display is curated by John Shoesmith, Special Collections Librarian, and Adam Seelig.)

This event will be filmed for One Little Goat’s ongoing series of films and podcasts of Joyce’s Finnegans Wake.

“Harte has found a way to crack the private code and maintain the original voltage… of one of the most funny and challenging novels of the 20th century, Joyce’s Finnegans Wake, in a first-of-its-kind filmed reading series.” —Cahir O'Doherty, The Irish Voice
