Alexander C. Pathy Lecture on the Book Arts: Language is Material In-Person
This talk will examine the intimate relationship between the craft of writing and material craft practices in contemporary chapbooks. Drawing on examples from the Fisher Library collection from Jackpine, Gaspereau, Janus, and others, and on experiences supporting students in the making of their own books, this talk will read literary chapbooks as objects that embody collaborative making practices and vibrantly material conceptualizations of literature.
Claire Battershill is an Assistant Professor cross-appointed in the Department of English and the Faculty of Information at the University of Toronto.
