Fisher Workshop: Introduction to Scientific Book Illustration

Fisher Workshop: Introduction to Scientific Book Illustration In-Person

Join us at the Fisher Library for an introductory workshop on the history of scientific illustration.

The workshop will focus on the different illustration methods used to represent some of the most important early scientific discoveries. Using examples from the Fisher's collections, participants will engage directly with illustrated texts from a range of scientific subjects and time periods — from Early Modern astronomy and Renaissance anatomy to Victorian natural history. Participants will learn to identify different illustration techniques while exploring the relationship between manuscript and print culture and the historical dissemination of scientific knowledge.

This workshop will be led by Alexandra Carter, History of Science and Medicine Librarian
