The George Kiddell Memorial Lecture: Lorna Goodison on The Inferno In-Person
This year’s George Kiddell Memorial Lecture features a presentation by Lorna Goodison on her recently published translation and adaptation of The Inferno.
Lorna Goodison is an internationally acclaimed Jamaican poet, essayist, memoirist, and visual artist, and one of the Caribbean’s most celebrated literary voices. Since the publication of her first collection, Tamarind Season (1980), she has produced a distinguished body of work that includes numerous books of poetry as well as volumes of prose, essays, and memoir. Her latest publication is a bold and inventive reimagining of Dante’s Inferno, the result of more than two decades of translation and adaptation that relocates the epic journey through Hell to a Jamaican and Caribbean linguistic landscape.
