SUMMARY:Introduction to Spatial Analysis with QGIS (in-person)
DESCRIPTION:In this free Map and Data Library workshop\, you will learn how
to use open data and geoprocessing tools to perform spatial analysis and
 develop problem-solving workflows. Using QGIS 3\, we'll model a real-world
problem and walk through the steps of gathering and assessing relevant
data\, applying effective symbolization\, performing analysis using
 geoprocessing tools\, and developing data-driven insights.\n\nWe'll also
consider how you might design your analyses in a thoughtful way\, by
considering what data and techniques are appropriate for your problem\, how
to evaluate the quality and accuracy of your data and results\, and how to
communicate your findings effectively.\n\n\nBy the end of this workshop\,
you will be able to:\n Understand GIS as a problem-solving
technology.\n Find and visualize data on a map.\n Apply
geoprocessing and analysis tools to perform spatial operations.\n
Interpret and communicate the results of your analysis.\n Design your
analysis with data and techniques that suit your problem.\n\nDon’t miss
this opportunity to enhance your GIS skills with QGIS. We look forward to
seeing you there!\n\n\n\n	Prerequisites:\n	While it’s beneficial to have
attended our 'QGIS: An Introductory Tour' or 'QGIS: Loading and
Manipulating Data' workshops\, these are not prerequisites. This workshop
is open to anyone interested in learning about GIS.\n	Audience:\n	This
workshop is designed for U of T students and
 researchers.\n	Instructor:\n	Cole White\, GIS Analyst\n\n\nThis event will
be held in Robarts Library\, room 4033 on the 4th floor. For directions\,
 please visit:
 https://onesearch.library.utoronto.ca/robarts-library-electronic-classroom\n\nThis
is the third workshop in the Map and Data Library's QGIS series. Register
for this year's final QGIS workshop here:\n\n\n	Geospatial Python
 Programming with QGIS: 1pm\, Wednesday\, December 10 (in-person).\n\n\nMap
& Data Library workshops\, such as this one\, are a welcoming and inclusive
environment for learning. To learn more\, check out our Code of
Conduct.\n\nMDL is committed to making our workshops accessible to
everyone. If you'd like to discuss how we can best meet any accessibility
needs you may have and help you get the most out of this workshop\, please
 contact Cole White (cole.white@utoronto.ca).
