SUMMARY:Visualizing Data with Maps (ArcGIS Online)
DESCRIPTION:Please\, check out other Fun Data Friday events.\n\n\n	What: In
this workshop we will discuss what aspects of a map make it interpretable.
You will learn how to map geospatial data\, map layers\, and how to apply
map layers in ArcGIS Online and analyze that data.\n \n	Why: Maps are
interpretations of the world we live in all around us. They play a pivotal
role in all industries to protect people and the planet\, maintain critical
systems\, and improve business outcomes every day. Applying data analysis
methods to maps can assist all users in better interpreting statistical
 information.\n \n	Software: ArcGIS Online is a cloud-based mapping
platform that allows users to collect\, manage\, and analyze data\, share
maps and apps\, and collaborate effectively within a connected and
collaborative web geographic information system (GIS). Students at the
University of Toronto have access to ArcGIS Online using their UTORid.\n
\n	Who:This workshop is designed for those new to working with mapping.
Participants from any discipline: Humanities\, Social Sciences\, or
Sciences are encouraged to participate. There are no prerequisites or
 assumptions of knowledge.\n \n	How: This is a 2 hour in-person workshop\,
consisting of a short lecture and then a series of demonstrations\, which
you can follow along with or just watch\, interspersed with activities we
will complete together and discuss. There are no breaks. \n \n	Where: This
workshop will be held in The BRIDGE Data Lab (IC 108)\n \n	When: Friday\,
November 21\, 4-6:00pm.\n \n	Code of Conduct: The Fun Data Friday
workshops are a welcoming and inclusive environment for learning. To learn
more\, check out our Code of Conduct. \n \n	Accessibility: The UTSC
Library is committed to making our workshops accessible to everyone. If you
require accommodation to fully participate in the workshop\, please contact
David Kwasny (david.kwasny@utoronto.ca) to discuss options. \n
\n	Complementary Learning Materials: Check out our UTSC Library Data Skills
Modules. \n\n\nJoin your peers to meet new people and learn new skills in a
welcoming and encouraging environment! \n\n \n\n
