Getting Published GPS: Session 1 - Introduction to scholarly publishing

This 90-minute introductory session that will explore current issues in publishing and suggest helpful strategies for navigating the world of scholarly communications and for understanding your rights and responsibilities as an author. 

This session will provide a primer on:

  • The research and publishing lifecycles

  • The economics of scholarly publishing

  • Understanding a publication agreement: copyright, licensing, and author’s rights in scholarly publishing

  • Evaluating Journals and Publishers

  • Deceptive publishing

This session is part of the Getting Published GPS Series. To receive GPS credit, you must also attend one of Session 2A: Publishing in Social Sciences and Humanities  or Session 2B: Publishing in STEM
